Mental disorders are very much common in the society, and triggered due to our fast lives, tight schedules and lots of stress. But mental disorders are hardly acknowledged or addressed because of the social stigma associated with them. To treat or cure a mental problem it is very necessary to accept it. There is also a general view that mental health ailments cannot be treated, but there are medications and treatments that can cure these disorders. A patient suffering from a mental disorder not only requires a proper treatment and medication but also the support of family and loved ones.

Various mental disorders have varied symptoms but some common symptoms are sudden mood swings, abnormal thoughts, extreme emotions, and skewed behavioral patterns. There are many causes that adversely affect the mental health of a person- like a family history, genes, stress, life experiences and incidents, a history of abuse or physical injury causing damage to the brain, cancer and illegal use of drugs and substance abuse.
