Rising Incidence

In the year 2009, obesity was responsible for death of more than 3 lakh people across the globe. Latest data provided by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention shows that 68% of adults are either overweight or affected by obesity. In US alone, one third of the population is obese.

In any average population, every 6th person is obese. The statistics are alarming because obesity is not just a cosmetic complication. Even though the direct connection between mortality and obesity is controversial, the degree of disturbance to the functioning of the body due to obesity is extremely high.

On an average, a person blinks about 25,000 times a day. If we total up the blinking of eyes per day, it comes up to 30 minutes with closed eyes. It is more in case of women, as they have a tendency to blink twice as much as men do.
